Abstract

This prospective study consisted of (30) patients admitted to PICU Ain Shams University Pediatric Hospital. Age was ranged between (0.1-13) years, they were 12 females (40%) and 18 males (60%).
 The majority of the study group on admission was fed by parenteral route. At discharge, more than half were fed on standard formula.
 Regarding the mortality rate determination in our study; (73.3%) of the study group was survived.
 There was highly significant weight loss of patients at discharge in comparison to admission and highly significant difference between admission and discharge as regard BMI. Also, there was significant decrease between admission and discharge regarding CRP, pre-albumin (p-value <0.001) and albumin (p-value 0.025).
 We found significantly decrease between survived and not survived study cases as regard in DCL and sepsis; anthropometric measures at discharge in weight and BMI; feeding assessment; and (CRP, albumin and pre albumin) at admission and at discharge.
 We found high difference on admission and at discharge as regard PIMS in survived group; also in not survived group.

 Also there was great difference (decrease) between on admission and at discharge as regard anthropometric measures at BMI z-score in survived group and at weight and BMI in not survived group.
 Our results showed high difference (decrease) between on admission and at discharge regarding feeding assessment in survived group.
 While there was statistically high difference (decrease) between on admission and at discharge regarding feeding assessment and CRP, albumin and pre-albumin in not survived group.
 The present study results showed that weight, BMI, PIMS, Hb Albumin and pre albumin have a significant effect on the survival rate, the body mass index the higher the survived rate, the lower significant in Height (m), MAC, CRP and Calcium
