Abstract

Block patterns vary according to the different style of the garment required. The dartless block pattern for loose fitting silhouette is one of the most important block patterns used in the field of clothing industry.
This research aims to identify the main difference between the two methods of dartless patterns which are (English method) (Winfred Aldrich), and (Italian method) (Fernando Burgo), to suggest a new method of easy fitting block pattern based on this comparison for more accurate and appropriate fitting of Egyptian women’s bodies and its applications.
This pattern may be considered as easier constructed pattern and more suitable for easy fitting styles. This pattern can be used in universities and in ready-made garment factories that mainly depends on the speed of production.
The research includes four chapters:
Chapter One: this chapter present the information’s of the research, and aims to elucidate the following:
The research problem, research aims, research hypothesis, research borders, and research methodology. The tools used in the research, definitions, and previous studies are also explained.
Chapter two: This chapter contained the theoretical study, and it aimed to elucidate the following:
First, the research shown the historical background of the pattern making industry and its development during the development of the clothing industry. Second, it is shown how to take body measurements which used in drawing the blouse pattern, the different methods used in taking body measurements, and explain the general rules followed in taking measurements accurately as they affect the fitting of the pattern.
Third, the blouse is an important and basic piece of clothing, so the elements of fit have been explained, , the difference between a good and poor fitting of the blouse, the different points of view of a good fit of clothing between the pattern maker and the consumer, and what are the fit test and standard of the fitting scheme for a bodice block and sleeve.
Fourth, the research dealed with the different methods of pattern making, the steps of the pattern making, and the purpose of the basic block pattern.
Finally, it explained how the characteristics of different fabrics give different results for the same design, and that different properties of fabrics can determine the type of basic pattern used.
Chapter three: presented the experimental work to present scientific application which the researcher used for made comparison between the methods of block pattern, and constructed easy fitting block pattern that’s suitable Egyptian women’s bodies. To achieve these aims there are many steps need to be added to be the base for it. They are:
1- Choosing the random sample.
2- Choosing the basic sample.
3- Studying different types of block pattern for choosing two methods.
4- Comparing between two methods to make the basic easy fitting block pattern (research topic).
5- Preparing a questionnaire sheet to evaluate the two methods (research topic).
6- Evaluating the two methods (research topic) to determine the fitting of the block patterns.
7- Constructing a suggested block pattern to find the best way to fit and suit the body.
8- Preparing a questionnaire sheet to evaluate the suggested method.
9-Evaluating this suggested easy fitting block pattern.
10- Re-modifying suggested modifications on the pattern.
11- Re-evaluating of suggested block pattern.
Chapter four: presented the results and discussion which represented the statistical analysis for the two questionnaire sheets.
First: Evaluation for the Two basic easy fitting block pattern were chosen to compare between them, (English method) (Winifred Aldrich) which is referring to the symbol (A), and (Italian method) (Fernando Burgo) which is referring to the symbol (B), after appling it on random sample with different sizes (S, M, L, and XL) during questionnaire sheet concluded all pattern details for front, back and sleeves. The arbitration of the results are as follows:
1- There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the ”A and B” methods used to prepare the blouse models size ”S”.
2- There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the ”A and B” methods used to prepare the blouse models size ”M”.
3- There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the ”A and B” methods used to prepare the blouse models size ”L”.
4- There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the ”A and B” methods used to prepare the blouse models size ”XL”.
The statistically results are showed that the method (B) is better than the method (A) for all sizes (S, M, L, and XL).
Second: Evaluation for the suggested easy fitting block pattern after applying it on different sizes (S, M, L, XL), and compared it by the pattern of method “B” during questionnaire sheet concluded all pattern details for front, back and sleeves. The arbitration of the results are as follows:
1- There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the ”B and Suggested” methods used to prepare the blouse models size ”S”.
2- There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the ”B and Suggested” methods used to prepare the blouse models size ”M”.
3- There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the ”B and Suggested” methods used to prepare the blouse models size ”L”.
4- There are statistically significant differences between the average scores of the ”B and Suggested” methods used to prepare the blouse models size ”XL”.
The statistically results are showed that the (Suggested) method is better than the method (B) for the sizes (S, M, L, and XL).
Chapter five: presented the applications work that applied in the suggested easy fitting block pattern for different designs of loose-fitting styles with different fabrics used software CLO to draw designs and Gerber software for laying plaining of the patterns.
Chapter six: presented the conclusion of the research, explain the method of the suggested block pattern and the suggested sleeve block pattern
