Abstract
Purine is one of the most privileged heterocyclic ring systems which was reported to possess various biological activities including anticancer, antiviral, immunosuppressive and bronchodilator activities.The aforementioned facts encouragedthe synthesis of variously 8-substituted hydrazinyl and sulfanylpurine derivatives.
<In addition, a series of 7-substituted purines as well as 3-aryltriazinopurineswere also synthesized.
< selected compounds were investigated for their cytotoxic potency against one normal human (WI38) as well as two cancerous (MCF-7andA549) cell lines.
<In addition, theinvestigation of possible mechanisms of anticancer activity through different biological assayswere attempted.
