Abstract

The role leaders play in promoting workplace safety has attracted the
attention of many researchers. This study aims at exploring the
relationship between safety leadership and employees’ safety citizenship
behaviors, a concept of a growing concern, that hasn’t been extensively
researched particularly in Egypt. With taking into consideration, the
differences between blue and white collar employees regarding their
safety citizenship behaviors. The research was carried out in one of the
multinational Power System and Automation Company in Egypt, which
puts a great emphasis on safety, through distributing self-administrated
questionnaires to collect the required data from both blue and white
collar employees, with a total sample of 310 respondents. Moreover, the
data obtained was analyzed using the SPSS, where correlation
coefficients were measured and multiple linear regression analysis was
conducted. The results confirmed a significant impact of safety
leadership on SCBs where safety controlling was found to have a
significant impact on all SCBs, followed by safety coaching.
Nevertheless, safety caring had no significant impact on SCBs.
Accordingly, the researcher suggested a number of recommendations to
be put into action in order to improve and maintain the workplace safety
in ABB.
- Key Terms: Safety leadership and Safety citizenship behaviors
(SCBs).
