المستخلص For several years, glass has been used as an important building material not only as building envelop, but also as a load bearing element. Many researchers have been carried out in the aim of standardization of glass elements design and to avoid catastrophic failure problems in such brittle material. In this thesis, we aim to analyse the behaviour of tempered glass panels under in-plane vertical loading. Different parameters are considered in this study such as the effect of thickness, dimensions and processing technique of glass. Fracture mechanics application approach is also included so that, these parameters are also applied in the calculations of stress intensity factor “KI” and comparison charts are presented. Five groups of test specimens are tested using Single-Edge Notched Beam (SENB) method and with applying Three-Point Bend Test (TPB). Numerical analysis using SAP2000 FE program were conducted for the test specimens in order to calibrate the program to apply the results on a typical spider system glass panel.
