Abstract The current work was carried out to evaluate the impacts of three chitin synthesis inhibitors (CSI’s) (novaluron, hexaflumuron and teflubenzuron) against C. pipiens larvae. The tested CSI’s were applied by impeding the 2nd instar larvae on the selected CSI’s at different concentrations (0.000001, 0.00001, 0.0001, 0.001 and 0.01ppm). The study was concerned with the effects on larval development. In addition, the treated larvae which exhibited any morphological aberrations were recorded. The extended effect on the pupal and adult stages. Moreover, two additional approaches, namely, biochemical and histological were adopted. The obtained results can be summarized as follows:- A-Biological effects: Larval treatment of C. pipiens with the tested CSI’s had a pronounced effect on the biological activities of this insect. Larval mortality:- All the tested compounds caused considerable toxic effects against the larvae. The results demonstrated that teflubenzuron was the most effective and induced 99% larval mortality at 0.01 ppm. Larval duration:- |
