Abstract

Summary and Conclusion
There are many standard indicators of the quality of life that include wealth , employment, the built environment, physical and mental health, education, recreation and leisure time, and social belonging
Patients care mostly about their quality of life and nobody wants to feel miserable and unhappy, hence, the interest in chronic liver disease related quality of life has been increasing. chronic liver disease has also been associated with increased fatigue, and a decreased ability to function at work. People with chronic liver disease report less confidence in their current health and more concern about their health in the future.
The aim of this study is to identify factors that influence quality of life in liver cirrhosis and evaluate the effect of chronic liver diseases on patient quality of life especially their professional performance .
The study was done on 75 patient and 25 normal control who were admitted to Internal Medicine & Gastroenterology department at Moktam insurance hospital. All patients and control involved in the present study gave their informed consent, then they were divided into 3 groups: group A: 25 normal controls. . group B: 25 patients with chronic hepatitis . group c: 50 patients with liver cirrhosis.
All patients and control were subjected to: Full history taking, thorough clinical examination, laboratory investigations. In addition; the following was done: Abdominal ultrasonography , Questionnaire for evaluation of impact of liver disease on the professional performance
Our results showed that cirrhotic group had the highest effect on their job performance compared to chronic group as(28%) of cirrhotic group had a marked affection due to their disease while only 4% of chronic group had a marked effect
Conclusion:
Impact of chronic liver disease on the professional performance were significantly higher in cirrhotic group than chronic hepatitis group .
