Abstract

Strengthening of pre-stressed concrete structures is one of the most important topics studied all over the world because these structures exposed to deterioration after certain time. Strengthening can be applied by a lot of methods, such as, externally bonded technique, section enlargement, near surface mounted and etc. The main objective of this research is to study the flexural behavior of Un-bonded PostTensioned Reinforced Concrete (UPRC) strengthened With Externally Bonded Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (EB) (CFRP) Wraps and steel plates and the effect of using CFRP Wraps with different layers and steel plates with different thickness. Experimental program was carried out on eight Un-bonded Post-Tensioned Reinforced Concrete (UPRC) which casted with M40 concrete grade. Three dimensional non-linear finite element analysis was performed up to failure considering the non-linear effects of material to investigate the nonlinear behavior of the tested beams. The experimental and the analytical results are presented, compared and discussed. The proposed models in the analysis gave good results that accepted by the experimental test results.
