- introduction
The contemporary Gulf societies have witnessed a wide debate on women’s issues, especially issues related to enabling women to perform their role in the process of social development in all its aspects. The problem of the present study is the developmental role of Kuwaiti women between empowerment and marginalization.
- Objectives of the study.
The present study aims at uncovering the reality of Kuwaiti women in various fields and measuring this reality by using the descriptive approach as a method of study in addition to re-reading and analyzing some laws, regulations and legislations related to women. A set of objectives were identified in an attempt to identify the main obstacles that contribute to weakening Kuwaiti women’s participation in the fields Cultural, economic or political obstacles. It also attempts to shed light on the degree of public awareness of Kuwaiti women within the society by drawing up some elements that help in building a systematic work strategy Support women’s empowerment and contribute to their increased presence and effectiveness in the development process.
- Study hypotheses.
The study attempts to test the validity of the following hypotheses:
1- It is expected that Kuwaiti women have not reached the degree of empowerment they hope in different social areas (social, political, legal, and economic).
2- It is expected that the genes, customs and social traditions (the cultural structure of society) are the main obstacles that limit the empowerment of Kuwaiti women.
3- It is expected that the economic field is the most empowering area for Kuwaiti women, with high levels of empowerment.
4- The political sphere is expected to be the weakest area of empowerment.
- Methodological procedures for the study
A - Type of study: descriptive study.
B - Method of study: social survey sample of women from the Kuwaiti society
Study Tools: A questionnaire on the empowerment of Kuwaiti women.

1-Spatial field: The researcher chose the spatial field of study applied to women working in the community study
2-The human field: The sample size of women in the Kuwaiti society reached (300) single.
3. Time domain: This is the data collection period from 18/11/2017 to 25/1/2018.
- Results.
1. Social level: The culture of society is the most prominent obstacles to the empowerment of Kuwaiti women to achieve their role in development.
2. Economic level: The Civil Code gave women the right to work, and women achieved their best results in the economic field.
30Legal level:Many Kuwaiti laws and legislation still carry many aspects of discrimination against Kuwaiti women.
4. Political level: The political field is the weakest areas for the empowerment of Kuwaiti women.
- Recommendations:
- The media must provide a different picture of those portrayed by women in a way that does not contribute to empowerment.
