Abstract

T
This thesis study was a prospective, observational, and cohort clinical study subjected to a sample of 151 (one hundred and fifty one) HD patients, males and females of two HD units located in Cairo / Egypt.
 The course of study has lasted for one year at 3 months regular follow up measurement session.
 Among those selected 151 HD patients included in this study, three cases had seroconverted into HCV positive.
 Sero-conversion rate was 1.25% (1 patient) at 3rd month of follow up in group (A) and 2.8% (2 patients) seroconversion rate at 6th month of follow up in group (B).
 Application of most infection control measures items in high percentage followed up by checklist method like (hand hygiene before and after each patient) lowered sero-conversion rate except (Wearing gloves, changing them between patients, using protective mask & gowns) which was the least applied items from the checklist.
 The results showed that SGPT and ferritin levels had independent predictor of sero-conversion in both groups.
