Abstract
This study was performed to prepare some new Oxovanadium complexes toward developing vanadium-based drugs for diabetes, which act as the insulin-mimetic action and the therapeutic agents for treatment of streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rats and show the important role of these complexes as antioxidant and also the effect of the complexes in flowcytometer parameters and the histological changes of pancreas.
This study was designed to: Study the effect of Oxovanadium complexes which synthesized from two ligands 4-{(8-hydroxyquinoline-7-yl)-methyleneamino}-1,2-dihydro-1,5-dimethyl-2-phenylpyrazol-3-one(a) and 8-hydroxy-7-formylquinoline (b).
Study the effect of this complexes on fasting blood glucose (FBS) , Haemoglobin (Hb) , Glycosylated Haemoglobin (HbA1C) , Creatinine, Urea, Total cholesterol (TCHO) , Triglycerides (TG), Alanine amino transferase (ALT) , Aspartate amino transferase (AST) , Total protein.
Study the effect of vanadium complexes on the activity of antioxidants enzymes Superoxide dismutase, Glutathione reductase, Glutathione peroxidase and Malonodialdhyde and also, the effect of these complexes on Annexin, Caspase ,Transforming growth factor and the pancreatic cells structures.
After the oral administration with two complexes for fifiteen days we found:
Significant decreased in the body weight that vanadium reduce food intake, lowered the blood glucose level , normalized the levels of the liver enzymes and improved kidney function , Reduce the levels of total cholesterol and triglycerides.
Improvement and increased in the activity of the antioxidants enzymes.
Normalized cell numbers and improved the pancreatic cells structuers.
