Abstract

I
n view of the equivalence of both fractionation regimens in palliating the pain caused by bony metastases, shorter fractionation courses should be more frequently used in our clinical practice being more cost-effective, less time-consuming, and allow overcoming long waiting lists. With more hypo-fractionated schedules should be evaluated against the standard protracted ones.
As noticed in this study as well many several others, that lower dose of radiotherapy may provide equivalent outcomes to higher ones in palliating bone pain. So, The role of the surrounding normal tissue in the pain process caused by bone metastases as well as the effect of radiation in this environment has to be furtherly investigated, which may lead to pain control augmentation.
The noticed superiority of shorter fractionation arm at the eighth week in improving pain in cancer prostate may provide an allusion that investigating varieties of fractionations comparisons in different primaries, may guide the choice of the appropriate fractionation schedule.
