Abstract The aim of the present work was to discuss the technical and management outcome of our first Flow Diverter embolizations case series. The current study was conducted on 13 patients with intracranial aneurysms our results showed that Pipeline FDD was used in 9 patients (69.2%), while Silk FDD was used in the remaining 4 patients (30.8%). In all of our cases, FDD was used as a primary treatment (100%). In our cohort, number of sessions was only one session for each case. The maximum number of FDD used in our patients was 2 devices. Coils were not used in any case in our study group. Regarding complication, three cases (23.1%) were complicated. No one stopped antiplatelets after the procedure. On 6 months angiographic follow up, nine patients (69.2%) achieved complete occlusion. Not amenable to standard coiling techniques including large and giant aneurysms, fusiform shaped aneurysms, wide-neck aneurysms. With this results we can conclude that the use of FDD is a valid and safe treatment modality with low morbidity for wide necked complex aneurysms and the aneurysms, which are not amenable for standard coiling procedures. |
