The current research aimed to identify the effectiveness of the proposed training program for teaching the development of teaching competencies among the teachers of the second seminar in basic education in social studies in Libya. The research questions were formulated in the following main question:How can the teaching competencies of the social studies teachers in the second cycle of basic education in Libya be developed using a proposed training program based on teaching?The following sub-questions are derived from the previous question:1What are the teaching competencies required for teachers of social studies in the second cycle of basic education in Libya?2To what extent are the teaching competencies necessary for teachers of social studies in the second cycle of basic education in Libya? What is the proposed program based on teaching to develop the teaching competencies of the social studies teachers in the second cycle of basic education in Libya? What is the effectiveness of the proposed program based on teaching to develop teaching competencies (both cognitive and performance) in the social studies teachers in the second cycle of basic education in Libya? The sample consisted of (40) teachers in Libya (20) teachers for the experimental group, and (20) teachers of the control group, the researcher used to verify the effectiveness of the program a test and a note card for teaching competencies. The results of the research resulted in the effectiveness of the proposed program based on teaching to develop the teaching competencies (both cognitive and performance) in the social studies teachers in the second cycle of basic education in Libya using the average rate of gain of (Black), where there were significant differences at (0.05) Between the average scores of the experimental and control groups in both the achievement test and the observation card for teaching competencies in the post-application for the experimental group ”.
