Abstract

In this thesis, the power aware and the power pre characterized meshing algorithms were presented. Both showed an error less than 0.9 degree when compared to regular FE mesh- ing. Their performance results showed over 65% speed up when compared to flux based algorithm. A modeling scheme based on the step function for heat generation inside tran- sistors was also presented. The new model helps to enhance the condition of the system matrix to reduce the time needed to solve it. The algorithm showed an average of 7% speed up in the solver step. Its accuracy results we acceptable when compared to the shell elements models. Finally a fast solution technique to be used for very big systems was introduced which showed a speed up factor of around 50%.
