Abstract

Azo compounds have received considerable attention in the last decade which plays a central role as chelating agents for a large numbers of metal ions, as they form a stable six-membered ring after complexation with a metal ion and can also be used as analytical reagents.
The present study involves preparation of azo dye compounds. Complexes of various anions of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cr(III) and Cd(II) with azo dye compoundhave been synthesized and characterized by different spectroscopic and thermal analysis techniques.
Chapter 1, contains a literature survey includes the importance and structural chemistry of azo compounds and their different complexes. Chapter 2, involves materials used and the preparation of azo dye compounds and their complexes as well as analytical techniques. Chapters 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 include on the results and discussion abstracted from this study.
