Abstract
Green spaces are areas that include trees, shrubs and grass. They can either small or large sizes, also they are found inside cities or around them. They play an important role to get pollutions from the air. Lots of Countries around the world suffers from urban sprawl on green spaces and high density population areas that caused decreasing on the ratio of green spaces around the world. That result a high pressure on the environment by polluting it. Many researches have been made to find out solutions for this problem. this research aims to deal with this problem by reviewing planning theories’, there are many theories and movements are interested with green spaces and keen to exist them while they make urban planning.Also, indicate to the planners’ classifying of green spaces in communities according to their source, size, location and using. In addition, shows benefits for using green spaces to give economic, social, environmental, etc. impacts.Either, the research includes countries’ efforts around the world to add green spaces for their towns’ planning because they aware of the importance of using green spaces. The world direction to make sustainable towns, which means decreasing impacts of population on the environment and saving the resources. For that, urban planners found that increasing in green spaces can make healthy environments. Moreover, there are many methods to calculate cities’ sustainability and other methods to calculate green areas’ ratio.At the end of research there is an application on Sidi Bishr zone in Alexandria, Egypt to identify the decreasing of green spaces problem and put some proposals to solve it according of the last information.
