.1 .Defining the geographic circumstances of the study area as a basic component of settlement development. 2. Highlighting the current status of settlement development by analyzing the environmental impacts of settlement development associated with the growth of urban economic activities, and identifying the trends and axes of settlement development of the city. 3. Attempting to link the urban environment with the natural environment in Ganzur city. 4. Identifying elements of sustainable settlement development and assessment of the quality of their demographic, housing and service components. Approaches and methods of study : The researcher used descriptive approach, the spatial analysis method, the behavioral analysis method, the systems approach,as well as quantitative approach.Study sources: 1. Books and academic theses. 2. Statistical sources, maps and aerial photographs. 3. Field study : A questionnaire containing 46 questions related to population and settlement characteristics that based on a random sample of 5% of 1000 samples. Study content : The study included six chapters preceded by an introduction, followed by a conclusion containing the findings and recommendations, Chapter 1 (Geographical Factors Affecting settlement development), Chapter 2 (settlement development), Chapter 3 (Urban Morphology),Chapter 4 (Environmental Impacts of settlement development), chapter 5 (settlement development and Environmental Pollution), Chapter 6 (Environment and Sustainable settlement development.
