Abstract

The current study was carried out through the year 2015 in the biogas laboratory at Tractors and Farm Machinery Testing and Research Station at El-Sabahia, Alexandria Governorate. It was aimed to Develop and construct an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor for biogas production of water hyacinth. Mathematical simulation model was also developed on the sludge and water jacket compartments to predict the system operation parameters. The upflow anaerobic digester was consisted of three components. These are the sludge compartment, the heating water jacket and the sludge feeding tank. Mathematical simulation model was developed on the sludge and water jacket compartments to carry out the analysis of the selected system operation characteristics. The simulation model was based on a transient energy balance state and was performed on the sludge and the water jacket compartments.
