Abstract Diabetes Mellitus is a disease with multi-system complications. The incidence of heart failure in diabetic subjects is high even in the absence of hypertension and coronary artery disease (CAD). Doppler echocardiography and tissue Doppler image (TDI) has largely contributed to show the existence of a distinct diabetic cardiomyopathy. The aim of this study is to assess left ventricular distolic function in normotensive type II diabetes mellitus patient without microvascular complications. This study included 40 patients with type 2 DM (group I) and 40 healthy subjects (group II) and underwent transthoracic echocardiography at Tanta University hospital . Were excluded from this study: Patient with previous myocardial infarction , coronary artery disease, LV systolic dysfunction, nonsinus rhythm, previous stroke, hypertensive patients, valvular heart disease and patients with microvascular complications such as neuropathy, retinopathy, or nephropathy and those with a microalbumin-to-creatinine ratio of >0.25 in spot urine. |
