Abstract

Childbirth is a crucial experience in women’s life as it has a substantial psychological, emotional and physical impact. Therefore, a childbirth positive experience is important to the woman, infant’s health and well-being, as well as mother–infant relationship. In addition, it is useful for the care providers to guarantee the best preparation, health service and support to childbearing women.
Women’s satisfaction with the maternity health care services has become a growing subject of interest in health politics and in research. Assessment of women’s views of care has also become one of the indicators of the quality of health-care provision, with growing acceptance of the need to adapt services to improve women’s experiences.
A nurse is the one spending the whole time with the woman and she has an important, enabling role to help her during childbirth. She must have a high percentage of interpersonal skills in the care of the woman, in addition to being technically competent. Thus, the nurse is responsible for increasing woman’s satisfaction from reception till discharge. Therefore, the satisfaction of women with the nursing care is the most important factor influencing their satisfaction with the whole hospital services.
The aim of this study was to identify women’s satisfaction with intra-natal nursing care.
The study comprised a convenience sample of 200 women who was selected from the postpartum ward of Damanhur General Hospital affiliated to the Ministry of Health.
