Through the work of the researcher as English teacher at secondary school, she sees the importance of this stage in determining the future of the students; must therefore train students in the use of modern methods in order to prepare them to be men of tomorrow who are on the degree of efficiency and quality, scientifically and culturally, and make critical decisions in various fields.
Objectives of the study:
This study was conducted in order to identify the effectiveness of a program to improve decision-making skills among high school students using De Bono’s thinking patterns.
Study Sample:
- The descriptive study group consisted of (120) students from the first grade secondary students representing different demographic variables.
- The experimental study sample was taken among students with low decision-making skills according to their answers for the open questionnaire, they are of first-grade students of Inshas secondary school.
- the sample consisted of two grops:
1. the experimental group: (20) students (10 males and 10 females).
2. the control group: (20) students (10 males and 10 females).
The importance of the study:
- provide Arab library with important study about a training program for the development of decision-making skills among high school students using De Bono’s thinking patterns.
- Attempt to shed more light on the importance of the Six Thinking Hats in the development of decision-making skills among third-graders secondary.
- Provide a training program with high school students, which could be useful in improving decision-making skills, which will reflect positively on their lives later academic, personal and professional later.
Study Tools:
The researcher used the following tools:
1. Open a questionnaire for decision-making skills among secondary school students. (Prepared by the researcher)
2. decision-making skills scale among secondary school students. (Prepared by the researcher)
3. Assess awareness of thinking form among secondary school students. (Prepared by the researcher)
4. Social , economic and cultural level of the family form among secondary school students. (Prepared by the researcher)
5. training program for the development of decision-making skills by using De Bono’s thinking patterns among secondary school students. (Prepared by the researcher)

The study Hypotheses:
1. There is a difference between the responses of first-grade secondary students about how decision-making skills common.
2. There are differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post measurements on a decision-making skills scale for post measurement.
3. There are differences between the mean scores of the control group in the pre and post measurements on a decision-making skills scale for post measurement.
4. There are differences between the mean scores of the control group and the experimental group in post measurement on a decision-making skills scale in favor of the experimental group.
5. There are no differences between the mean scores of male and female on a decision-making skills scale after the application of the training program.
6. There are no differences between the mean scores of the experimental group on a decision-making skills scale between after implementing the program and the iterative application.
Statistical Methods:
• Mean
• Standard Deviation
• T-Test
• Correlation Coefficient
The researcher also used statistical software package for social science (SPSS) in the analysis of the results of the study and draw diagrams explain it.
Results of the study:
The results of the study on the following:.
1. There are substantial differences between the responses of first-grade secondary students about how decision-making skills common on a decision-making skills scale.
2. There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post measurements on a decision-making skills scale for post measurement.
3. There are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the control group in the pre and post measurements on a decision-making skills scale.
4. There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the control group and the experimental group in post measurement on a decision-making skills scale in favor of the experimental group.
5. There are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of male and female in the search problem and generate a range of alternatives , and There are statistically significant differences between the mean scores of male and female in Identify the problem and differentiation between these alternatives and choose the alternative from these alternatives In favor of females.
6. There are no statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the experimental group on a decision-making skills scale after implementing the program and the iterative application.
Study Recommendations:
1. subjecting teachers to training sessions on how to use Six Thinking Hats, and how to train students on these patterns .... and how to train students to use the Six Thinking Hats in everyday situations.
2. Use teachers to Six Thinking Hats in teaching, and provide an enjoyable learning environment for students even they can use the Six Thinking Hats.
3. Emphasize on the importance of training teachers and students on the decision-making as a skill of life, and the need to develop decision-making skills of the students in all other levels of education so that they can face the demands of everyday life.
4. Prepare the programs , activities and curricula that specializes in the development of decision-making skills among students.
5. Focus on preparation and construction curricula that use Six Thinking Hats to develop decision-making skills among students.
6. focus on the preparation of workshops in schools so that students can train on the six thinking hats and other thinking programs.
