Abstract

The present study was conducted to determine the effect of fenugreek seeds and marjoram leaves at two levels (0.25 and 0.50%) and their mixtures inclusion as a natural growth promoter on growth performance, carcass traits and blood parameters of growing New Zealand White rabbits. A total number of 90 unsexed New Zealand White rabbits aged 6 weeks with an average body weight used ranged from 750 to 775 g., were divided randomly equally into nine groups. Every treatment contained 10 replicates. Each group was assigned at random to one of treatments. Feed additives used in this study are fenugreek seeds and marjoram leaves at two levels (0.25 and 0.50%) and their mixtures. The feeding period was extended for 56 days. In general, the obtained results showed that Fenugreek and Marjoram can be used in feeding rabbits up to 0.25 % and 0.50% of the diet instead of clover hay without any detrimental effects on growth performance, carcass traits, nutrients digestibility and blood parameters. Under these conditions of this study it can be concluded that adding 0.5% fenugreek seeds with 0.25% marjoram leaves as feed additives improved nutrient digestibility, nutritive values and performance of rabbits as well as realized the highest value of relative economic efficiency and lowered value of feed cost/ kg live body weight.
