The experiments conducted in this research were carried out to study the benefiting of Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus quadricauda in sewage water treatment and try to re-use it in some agricultural aspects. The water used in this investigation was collected at Mostorod plant, and were analyzed to determine the concentrations of heavy metals. A comparative study between Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus quadricauda was carried out to determine the capacity (efficiency) of the algal species to remove heavy metals from sewage. (An additional point of interest was studying some physiological parameter by the effect of different concentrations of sewage taken from Mostorod plant such as dry weight, chlorophyll a content, amino acids content, protein electrophoretic patterns and ultrastructure of both algal species to determine the more tolerant alga. The applied concentrations played an important role in increasing the physiological parameters when compared to the corresponding control value. The protein electrophoresis results detected the synthesis of different types of proteins induced due to stress, that were not found in the control. Where, the ultrastructure of Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus quadricauda treated with different heavy metals caused changes in their structure. Also, a comparative study was carried out, to determine the effect of different concentrations of sewage and sewage pre-treated with Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus quadricauda separately at two germination stage (after 9 and 12 day) on growth parameters, total protein content and the activity of some antioxidant enzymes in Vicia faba L. seedlings. Most of the applied treatments caused increases in growth parameters, total protein content and activity of some antioxidant enzymes when compared to control value.
