Abstract
Science fiction is a genre of literature that distinguishes its fictional world from that world in which we actually live. It is the fiction of imagination rather than observed reality. Human imagination has prompted writers to study this genre, to talk about scientific miracles and create situations that seek perfection. Science -fiction writings offer a kind of desire to live in a perfect world, a desire that unfortunately is not achieved due to conflicts and evils. Science-fiction novels describe the future world which might be either utopian or dystopian. This is especially true of the science-fiction novels of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that raising doubts on science when offers terrifying images of the future. The aim of the study is to show the reaction of science fiction writers to science in a highly advanced civilization. The thesis explains why those writers start shedding doubt upon scientific advancement and highlights man’s position in a society controlled by scientific discoveries. It also shows that just as science can be used wisely for the progression of civilizations, also it will be a source of condemnation by science fiction authors when we talk about its excessive pursuit.
