Abstract
Benzoheterocycles such as benzothiazoles, benzimidazoles and benzoxazoles can serve as unique and
versatile scaffolds for experimental drug design. Among the all benzoheterocycles, benzothiazole
has a considerable place in the research area especially in synthetic as well as in pharmaceutical
chemistry because of its potent and significant pharmacological activities. Although a wide range
of methods are available for synthesizing benzothiazole nucleus and its derivatives, a real need
exists for new procedures that support many kinds of structural diversity and various substitution.
