A thesis has 143 pages. In this thesis, a detailed study comprising geological mapping, structural analysis, petrographical and geochemical investigations of the
rock assemblages exposed in Abu Marw area are intended to solve problems of magma types and tectonic settings as well as field relations between the different rock units. from the field geological investigation of the different rock units, with references to their mode of occurrence, mutual relationships, petrographical study and regional structure the investigated area was divided from the oldest to youngest into: metagabbros, metavolcanics, syn-late granitoid rocks (tonalites and granodiorites), post magmatic granitoid rocks (syenogranites, monzogranites and alkalifeldspar granites). The results of 24 chemical analyses of amphiboles from the studied area and their chemical formula based on 23 Oxygen atoms. All thestudied amphiboles are calcic amphiboles, where all the samples fall within calcic field when plotted on BNa versus BCa + BNa classification diagram. The biotites from the investigated rocks are rich in iron and of calcalkaline nature. In the studied granites, the composition of plagioclase is sodic albite to oligoclase (An1-An18) in the alkali-feldspar granite and syenogranite, but is sodic oligoclase in monzogranite (An20-28). The composition of plagioclase in the granodiorite and tonalite is calcic (An30-48).
Most potash feldspar is occurred as orthoclase and perthites. The compositional of the potash feldspar is Or75-99 in the studied syenogranite and alkali-feldspar granite. from the general chemical features and variation diagrams, it can be concluded that the Abu Marw granitoid batholiths comprises a comagmatic calc alkaline I type peraluminous suite of rocks ranging in composition from tonalite, granodiorite, monzogranite, syenogranite to alkali feldspar granite.
