Abstract

This sudy aimed to : Studies on propagation of some citrus rootstocks Methods & Results : This investigation was carried out during 2013 to 2015 seasons in Tissue Culture Laboratory of Horticulture Department, Agriculture Faculty, Mansoura University, to study in vitro propagation of five Citrus rootstocks namely, Sour orange, Volkamiana lemon, Cleopatra mandarin, Rangpur lime and Troyer citrange using two types of explants (shoot tips and epicotyls) and the media culture were MS supplemented with 6-benzylaminopurine at (1.5 mg/L) and Kinetin at (1.0 mg/L) at shooting stage and Indole-3-butyric acid and α-Naphthalene acetic acid at 2.00 mg/L each at rooting stage. The definition of the best rootstocks, explant tissue to be in vitro cultured and growth regulators to obtain the maximum proportions of shoot, leaves, roots, total carbohydrates and total nitrogen content per plantlets. Conclusion;from the present study, it could be concluded that, it may be possible to micro-propagate some citrus rootstocks, especially Volkamariana, Sour orange, Cleopatra mandarin, Troyer citrange and Rangpur, with emphasis of using epicotyl explant type as well as supplemented MS medium with some growth regulators such as 6 benzylaminopurine and kinetin at shooting stage and indole-3-butyric acid and α-Naphthalene acetic acid at rooting stage. However, further studies are procedures for the establiment of derived plants in soils and evaluate as well as examine their performances in field in comparison with conventional methods propagated plants.
