Introduction:
This study Was launched as diabetes is a chronic disease that afflicts children and need to create social and psychological climate that conveniently helps them to pass the crisis in its early stages and live with it, as they need to adhere to the behavior of self-care, recording the results, daily insulin injections, implement a diet and athletic system and regular medical follow-up. These behaviors impose restrictions on the patient and negative feelings reflected on the responses about the functions of the treatment, must help the child understand his health state without digging in the conscience of the child worry or concern because of suffering from diabetes . This digging may last forever.
Problem of the Study:
Despite medical advances and enormous studies dealing with diabetic patients and efforts in the fight against it, the indications tell the increasing rates of infection rather than retreat, when the patient is diagnosed with diabetes for the first time he feels tension, anger and interactive depression and finally accepts the status quo. And for the increasing emotional problems and social threats to children in the recent period, it became necessary to pay attention to the psychological services provided to them with psychological guidance as a first step towards treatment and provide them with adequate care.
We can formulate the problem of the current study in the following question:
• Does the proposed training program leads to improving the behaviors and information of depressed children with diabetes.
• Does the proposed training program to improve the situation of children diabetics sick .
• So you prove the efficiency of the program (cbt forthechild- notch parental) compared to the iterative program?
Objectives of the Study:
Acquisition of the diabetic patients set of skills and cognitive and behavioral techniques to cope with the pressures and problems, and reduce the severity of depression to improve their mental state.
Preparing a cognitive-behavioral modification scale for children with diabetes for the Egyptian environment as a tool to measure the skills, cognitive and behavioral methods, and the extent of their mastery for those skills after the application of the therapeutic program.
Preparing measure of the environmental relationships of family works to identify weaknesses in these relations to be adjusted cognitively.
Prepare a program to improve the cognitive environment through social support and that leads to better help diabetics and parents for their children in a scientific manner.
Hypotheses of the study:
Researcher can formulate hypotheses of the study in four major hypotheses emerge, including the following sub- hypotheses
Importance of the Study:
First: The Theoretical Importance:
• Add a cognitive behavioral theoretical framework to improve the cases of diabetic children.
• Researcher can formulate hypotheses of the study in four major hypotheses emerge, including the following sub-hypotheses.
• Lead training proposed to amend the child s immediate environment, and derive from it the following hypotheses.
Second: Applied importance:
• Designing a cognitive behavioral program to improve the severity of
depression in children with diabetes and which fits children in late childhood.
• To assist teachers in schools, social workers and psychologists in hospitals with providing sessions to help improve the mental and pathogenesis state of the depressed diabetic child.
• There are few studies conducted on children with diabetes, which requires further study to increase the scientific knowledge of this catergory of disease in general, and children with depression in particular.
• Lack of knowledge of how appropriaye the family to deal with a child with diabetes may lead to the deterion of his physical and mental health.
Methodology and Procedures:
The researcher adopted the semi-experimental approach in the
application of the current study and have used a curriculum based on pre
and post measurement for the variables of the study to identify the impact
of the training program as an independent variable on the dependent
variable which is depression, as a result of the difficulty of applying the
experimental method on many humanitarian phenomena and studying it
in actual life, the researcher resorted to the semi-experimental approach
which is based on the study of unchanged human phenomena.
Study Procedures:
Procedural Steps for the Study
The researcher followed the following steps for the application and implementation of the study:
1- Access to the literature of scientific research, studies and previous research in the area of the current study.
2- Identify the tools and ensure suitability for the application on the sample under study.
3- Selection of the sample of children with diabetes who are free from any other chronic disease or disability.
4- The application of the program on the sample.
5- Executing the pre-measurement on the members of the sample.
6- Executing the post-measurement on the members of the sample.
7- Drawing conclusions and interpreted it in the light of the theoretical framework formulated previously.
8- Some of the recommendations and proposals deducted from the study results.
The Study Sample:
The study sample consisted of 12 children - 6 experimental ,3 males and 3 females and 6 control , 4 males and 2 females from Demeradash Hospital in Ain Shams University, the outpatient clinic who range from 9:12 Year in age.
Statistical Methods used:
To make sure of the validity of the data, the researcher used the following statistical methods:
- Arithmetic means, midterm retail and Pearson equations, and Cronbach’s alpha to ensure the validity and reliability of the scales.
- To address raw scores the researcher used:
- Mann-Whitney test....
- Wiklickson test....
Tools of the Study:
1- The Mental Interview Form for Diabetic Child (prepared by Gihan Rashad.2001).
2- Depression Testing (Gharib Abdel Fattah, 1995).
3- The social, economic and cultural level scale (Mohammed Albehire. 2002).
4- Cognitive-behavioral modification scale for the diabetic child (the researcher).
5- Cognitive-behavioral program for the child (the researcher).
