Abstract

The aim of our study is to compare the efficacy of paroxetine 20 mg on-demand, with dapoxetine 30mg, and dapoxetine 60mg on-demand on a single blind base.
The 64 patients were with IELT less than 1 minutes in 80% of intercourses were advised to use paroxetine 20 mg for 12 weeks in which there were at least 36 successive intercourses 3-4 hours before intercourse followed by dapoxetine 30 mg then dapoxetine 60 mg 1 hour before intercourse for three weeks with a one week interval between each drug and the next one to make sure that each drug is washed out before using the next one. The mean baseline IELT was 0.7 minutes while the frequency of intercourse at base line 2.6 intercourses per week.
Our study showed that after paroxetine 20mg administration, the mean IELT was increased significantly to reach 1.8 ± 0.8 minute (1.6 folds), and the frequency of intercourse also increased significantly to reach 3.9 ± 1.3 intercourses per week(0.6folds).
After dapoxetine 30mg the mean IELT was higher to reach 2.4 ± 1.1 minutes(2.4 folds), and the frequency of intercourse was significantly higher to reach 3.7 ± 1.1 intercourses per week (0.6folds).
The mean IELT increased significantly in patients on dapoxetine 60 mg to reach 3.6 ± 1.8 minutes (3.8 folds), and the frequency of intercourse significantly increased to reach 3.8 ± 1.1 intercourses per week (0.6folds).
