Abstract

A series of dealuminated zeoliteY-supported platinum was prepared
adopting two dealumination methods, viz. fast (1, 3 and 6h) and slow (18 h)
methods. The content of Pt was kept constant at 0.5 wt % in all investigated
catalyst using witness impregnation method. The most active and suitable
catalysts for isomerization process was 0.5 % Pt/ D18H-Y where the parent
Y-zolite dealuminated using slow method for 18 h. This catalyst was loaded by
two different amounts of Ni, Pd or Cr (0.3 and 0.6 wt%) by sequential
impregnation technique. The prepared samples were characterized using
TGA/DSC, XRD, FTIR techniques, Nitrogen adsorption at -196°C and TEMconnected
with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX). Surface acidity was
investigated via pyridine adsorption using FTIR spectroscopy. Two types of
catalytic tests were used. The first type of measurement was tested by the
hydroconversion of n-hexane and n-heptane as model compounds using a
micro-catalytic pulse technique attached to a gas chromatograph. The second
type was focused on studying the effect of important process variables on the
extent of isomerization of naptha, and upgrading of kerosene, on the selected
screened catalyst using continues flow fixed bed atmospheric and high pressure
unit. The parent and dealuminated Y- zeolite samples were characterized by
their microporous system.
