Abstract

Steel is an essential material for our modern life. The manufacture of steels delivers the goods and services that our societies need – healthcare, telecommunications, improved agricultural practices, better transport networks, clean water and access to reliable and affordable energy.
According to [world steel association 2011], the World crude steel production reached 1,527 million tons (Mt) for the year of 2011. Almost half of the world’s steel production now takes place in electric arc furnace (EAF) steel plants that operate exclusively with recycled scrap and generate no CO2 emissions. The waste (slag) arising from steel production can be re-used. For example, slag is employed as a high-value mineral material for highway construction and for the manufacture of blended cement …etc.
