Abstract Sarcocystis and Toxoplasma are common protozoan parasites of many species of animals including camels. This study was planned to investigate the incidence of Sarcocystis and Toxoplasma in camels slaughtered at Behera province. The incidence of Sarcocystosis n camels was determined by 1- microscopical examination of histopathological sections prepared fràm specimens from oesophagus, heart, tongue and diaphragm of 100 slaughtered camels at Saft El Horria, El Dalangat and Kom Hamada slaughter houses, and recorded an incidence of 51%. According to the infected organ, the oesophagus was found the higher organ infected followed by diaphragm, heart and tongue in an incidence of e6.7%, 39.2%, 29.2% and 15.7% respectively. Also from histopathological sections the morphology of cysts of Sarcocystis came/i was described. For serological incidence of Sarcocystosis in camels, antigen from Sarcocystis fusiformis of water buffalo was prepared. Its protein content was estimated and characterization of antigen was done by using 12% SDS polacrylamide gel electrophoresis. |
