Abstract This study was conducted in Behera Province, Egypt, :- on 328 local breed cattle of different ages, distributed in four different regions (Bay El-Baroud 56 animals; Shobra Kheet 116 animals; Hoosh Essa 56 animals and Damanhour 100 animals) The examined animals had a history of Babesia infection and not treated. In this study the 328 local breed cattle were tested by routine parasitological examination of Giemsa stained blood film which revealed an incidence of 34.8% of the examined animals were infected by B.bigernina. Concerning the locality, the higher percentage of Babesia infection was recorded at Hoash Essa (67.8%), followed by Damanhour locality (37%) , while Shobra Kheet and Etay El-Baroud localities recorded an incidence of 25% and 17% respectively. Two serological techniques were applied 1- The Capillary tube agglutination test (CAT) in which 130 local breed cattle were examined indicating a positive cases in a percentage of 61.5% |
