Abstract This study was conducted in Behera province , Egypt , 306 cal breed cattle of different ages , distributed in three fferent regions ( Santies region 74 animals , Nedeba region 101 imals and Sinhor region 131 animals ) were investigated. In addition to the routine parasitological examination of emsa stained blood film which revealed 65.4 % T. annu]ata fection ; two serological techniques were applied : The first was the Indirect Fluorescent Antibody Test ( IFA ) hich revealed 71.9 % positive cases throughout the total screened tUe , confirming the above mentioned routine parasitological imsa stained blood film. The second serological test was the Enzyme Linked Immuno rbent Assay ( ELISA ) test which applied for the first time in gypt using locally prepared T. annulata schizont antigen. The esult of the test revealed 80.1 positive cases. The study revealed differences in the infection rates between he three different localities. This may be attributed to different ygienic conditions and / or control measures applied by the owners f the tested animals in different farms. |
