Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is one of the most serious problems of modern public health its complications rank as high as causing disability and deaths. Diabetes still remains incurable problem but many studies were carried to control and to minimize the bad sequel even after insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents.
The present study were carried in order to trace the biochemical changes associated with the counter action of Nicotinamide to Streptozotocine as diabetogenic agent specially in insulin, glucose, cholesterol ,Triacyglycerols and some enzymatic activities,
In this study a total of 40 adult male albino rats, acclimated on same conditions, put under good hygeinic and fed daily on barley and baby milk in drinking water. Rats under test are divided fully randomly into four equal groups (each of 10 rats)
1- Control group: with out any treatment.
2-Nicotinamide group: are injected with Nicotinamide iO dose of
500mg/kg and maintained on daily oral dose of 0.5% in drinking water.
3-Streptozotocin group: are injected with Streptozotocin in dose of 50 mg/kg b.w. injected intrapretoneally.
4-Streptozotocin and Nicotinarnide group: injected intrapretoneally with Nicotinamide in dose of 500mg/kg. b.w. after 10 minutes they were reinjected with STZ intrapretoneally in dose of 50 mg/kg.
b.w. This group was maintained also on Nicotinamide in dose of 0.5% in drinking water.
Blood sampling was done for each group separate fOr three collections after treatment in the 3rd day and after 15 day, the final collection was taken at 30 day serum was separated in clean dried labeled vials and submitted for the following biochemical studies.
