Abstract This study included twenty male patients and five control persons classified into three groups as follows : Group I : Ten patients with evidence of bilharzial cor pulmonale. Group II : Ten patients with schistosomiasis without evidence of cardiac affection. Four patients of each group had active schistosomiasis, Group III : Included five patients without evidence of schistosomal infestation. Other causes of cor pulmonale were excluded in all patients. All patients were subjected to the following : 1- Thorpugh history and clinical examination. 2- Routine laboratory investigation, 12-lead electro cardiogram and plain X-ray chest. 3- Electrophysiologic studies including : a. Measurement of spontaneous cycle length, sinus node recovery time and corrected sinus node recovery time. |
