Abstract

The present study was carried out at the Hormone Laboratory, Department of Environmental Studies, Institute of Graduate Studies and Research, Alexandria University. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of chromium hexavalent (Cr (VI)) with or without folic acid on physiological, biochemical characteristics and reproductive performance of male rabbits.1- A significant (P<0.05) decrease in body weight and significant inecrease (P<0.05) in water intake as compared with control group. While, feed intake did not change.
2- A significant (P<0.05) decrease in carcass weight and dressing percentage, testes, urinary bladder and epididymis relative weights. But, relative weights of liver, kidney, brain, spleen and heart in Cr (VI) group were statistically similar to control.
3- Plasma total protein and globulin concentrations were significantly (P<0.05) decreased, while albumin/ globulin ratio increased (P<0.05), but there is no change in albumin. Also, protein in liver, testes, kidney, heart and lung were significantly (P<0.05) decreased.
