Abstract Tower crane is one of the most important equipments in construction projects. Optimum location of a crane can affect highly in project budget and time schedule. The objective of this research is to utilize new mathematically based technique to investigate site for optimum available crane locations inside and outside the feasible area, taking in consideration search time. For this purpose three models were developed. The first model is the explicit mathematical model investigates the fbasible area only. The second model utilizes’genetic algorithm combined in AlA TL4B to search the whole site. The third model is a modification of the genetic algorithm explores pit-defined area for the optimum location. A FORTRAN program developed to determine the minimum crane arequired and feasible area of crane. Several controlling parameters identified as “cfrcwrisdcs of crane, size of feasible area .etc.” to determine the optimum location. Assessment for the three-awarded models made to illustrate power and weak points of each technique. Finally, a dimensional case study was established and analyzed. |
