Abstract

Conducting Polymers have emerged as one of the most important materials in the twentieth century as coatings and containers to active materials with useful optical, magnetic, electronic properties because of their potential applications in solid state, energy storage, electrochromic displays and microelectronic devices, etc. The importance and potential impact of this new class of material was recognized by the world scientific community when Hideki Shirakawa, Alan J. Heeger and Alan G. MacDiarmid were awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2000 for their research in this field. There are a large number of conducting polymers such as polyacetylene, polyphenylacetylene, polypyrrole and polythiophene etc.. Among these polyaniline( PANI) and polypyrrole (PPY) have been considered as extremely interesting and unusual member of polymers having the delocalized -electrons.
A number of studies on PANI and PPY relating to its synthesis, structure, morphology, electrochromic and solid state properties have been reported in the literature. The present thesis is a systematic attempted towards the preparation and enhancing for conducting polymers.
This thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter concerned with introduction, the second concerned with experimental and the third chapter concerned with result and discussion.
The first chapter deals with general survey about conducting polymers and its classification on the basis of conduction mechanism and discussing different concepts of doping and conduction mechanism of conjugated organic polymers. We show different methods of synthesis conducting polymers and polymer blends and composites. Brief view and general information for some conducting polymers such as PANI, PPY and PPA.
