Abstract

This thesis aims to study the interaction between the fabric characteristics and fabric geometry. It concentrates on the properties of Terylen, Shineh and Fanela fabrics, which are produced from different fiber types. yarn counts. twist factors, different fabric structures, no of ends per inch. no of picks per inch. shed height and the finishing status of this fabric. The thesis focuses on applying Regression Analysis techniques to deduce the effect of the different yarn and machine parameters on the worsted fabric properties.
Firstly, it introduces the new trends in the worsted industry and explains the motivation behind this thesis and how its goals are achieved; a literature review on worsted woven fabric is describing the effects of some machine parameters.
The chapter elaborates with the review of the most significant woven fabric properties concerning its end use. Furthermore. most of thesis results have been discussed in this chapter. which are considered as the basis of discussion .The main theme of the thesis is briefly explained with the experimental work and the experimental measurements required for the production of the weaving fabric. The implementation of regression analysis is discussed in this chapter; the results and their discussion are presented. The results of the regression models are proposed. The rest of the chapter deals with utilization of regression model to predict the effect of the varous yarn and machine parameters on the worsted fabric properties. Finally, conclusion is presented and visions toward the application in the worsted industry as a successftil database system and its promising revenues are pointed out.
