Abstract

The Egypt Second Research Reactor (ETRR-II) is a Multi Purpose Reactor (MPR) that has been designed in order to provide means of a very wide and ample versatile utilization. The spectrum of possible experiments is very broad. In order to use facilities of this reactor, neutron flux, neutron current, and the energy spectrum of these fluxes at these facilities must be known. This is carried out in tow ways, first: the experimental measurements, second: the theoretical calculations. The tow ways should be performed together because experimental measurements do not give all the details about the flux, and the theoretical calculations should be verified by the experimental measurement.
ETRR-II has live neutron beams as the main experimental devices that allow to have a neutron source outside the reactor core. The objectives of this work are: first, to give detail, and precise numerical data concerning the neutron flux at the inlet, and also at the outlet of each of these channels. These data are very necessary for those doing researches and using these channels. As the second goal of this thesis is to investigate the use of the channel planned for boron neutron capturer therapy as designed by the manufacturer. An alternative design is suggested in which epithermal neutrons are used instead of the present existing thermal beam of neutrons.
