Abstract Railway lines inside inhabited areas cause a lot of noise and vibration that make it environmentally a big source of pollution. Egypt was one of the first countries that used railways and have a lot of lines connected subsidiaries distance and most of cities by Cairo through the inhabited zones. A railway system is of necessity placed near population centers and often causes significant noise and vibration at nearby residences and other sensitive types of land use. Due to unplanned homes very close to the railway lines, noise and vibration are very important elements of the environmental impact in this respect. Extensive measurements have been performed over the selected area of Sharabia near to the main Cairo Station due to, only building is four meter away from the railway line. The railway line in this area consists of five tracks (double track up & down towards Alexandria, double track up & down towards Monouf and a single track towards the East) The statistical evaluation of measured sound and vibration emission from rail vehicles has been used to produce a mathematical model based on empirical formula. Validations of the model were preformed by measuring a real input data and predict Sound Pressure Level and Vibration Level using the empirical mathematical models and compare the results. |
