Abstract

A fertilizer is material that furnishes one the chemical elements necessary for the proper development and growth of plants, The most important fertilizers are fertilizer products (also called chemical Or mineral fertilizers). manures, and plant residues. A fert1izer product is a material produced by industrial process with the specific purpose of being as a fertilizer. Fertilizers are essential in today’s agricultural system to replace the elements extracted from the soil in the form of and other agricultural products The present work deals with the study of improving the physical properties of the granulated urea fertilizer by using some additives [inorganic salts]. The study was carried out by using fluidized bed granulator to produce urea granules after addition some additives. The effect of the following variables on the physical properties of urea:
1- Concentration of urea solution feed to the fluidized bed granulator.
2- The different types of the all additives (inorganic salts) added to urea solution.
3- The different amounts of additives to urea solution at different concentrations.
The study has revealed the following results:
1- The urea feedstock solution concentration 96% is better than 95%.
2- The potassium and ammonium salts are the best additives to urea solution. 3- The amount of additives between (0.4 - 0.6 % wt.) it is the suitable value.
4- The samples of urea granules which produced in thin study illustrated that the ammonium salts NH4CI- (NH2hSO~] are the best salts.
