Hepatitis B virus, together with its sequalae that include chronic active hepatitis, liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma, is one of the most important diseases of human kind representing a major public health ’I ~roblem. There are more than 350 million carriers of hepatitis B virus, 60 millions of whom will die from liver cancer and 45 millions from cirrhosis. Hepatitis B is preventable by vaccination and might-eventually be curable ~y specific immunologic or antiviral agents. The expanding world, wide application of hepatitis B vaccine promises to eliminate the infection from ~uman population together with many cases of cirrhosis and cancer liver. The current hepatitis B vaccines have .proven to be highly immunogenic and effective. It had been reported to elicit protective response in more than 90 of healthy adults and more than 950/0 in infants, children and adolescents. Data on the use of vaccine indicated that with ­ extensive coverage, hepatitis B carrier rate in children less than 10 years dropped from 9.8
