Abstract

Abstract: This ~hesis is concerned with the mul~i-model con~rol
algori~hm of indus~rial processes using ~he microcompu~ers.
Multi-model control technique is based on represen~ing ~he process
by a set. of linear models which are valid around c ert aIn nominal
opera~ing points. It lies’within ~wo main par~s; loca~ion and control.
LOCATION is an operation which is able to evaluate the quality of
the different models .....ith respect. to certain criterion and classify
them accordingly.
CONTROL is an operation achieved in two steps:
1- The basic control, of each of the available models, which is
calculated separately using cert.ain control criterion.
2- Syn~hesising ~he actual control. applied ~o ~he process, which can
be realized in several ways; either by selecting the basic control of
the bes~ model or by combining the differen~ basic controls.
A tracking. location criterion is proposed to overcome the problem.
encoun~ered by ~he dlfferen~ available de~erminis~ic mul~i-model
techniques. where ~he used models are of differen~ s~ructure.
A mul~i-microprocessor network has been developed. I~ consis~s of
a personal computer connected .....ith three microprocessor cards working
in parallel. This ne~work
is used to implemen~ and ~est ~he
multi-model con~rol algorithm.
Simulation reSUlts, using the developed ne~work. are included. A
real time application is carried out. to control ~he temperature of a
pilot.~hermal process. The results of t.hesimulation and ~he real time application show the potent.ial of the control algorithm and ~he
efficiency of the proposed hardware corif’Lqtrr a.t.Lori and the Loc at.Lori
