Abstract
The present study included thirty patients who had symptomatic GERD, proved on ambulatory 24-hour esophageal. pH readings and requiting inhibitors (PPIS). Patients were randomly allocated to undergo laparoscopic Toupee fundopliction. Toupee fundoplication (GROUP II) Or Laparoscopic floppy Nissan fundoplication (GROP II).
The results in this study reported that, there was on significant different between both operations as regards the operative time, the hospital stay. Both Toupee and Nissan fundoplicaion are effective in controlling heartburn and regurgures with on significant difference between two procedures. Although the incidence of post-operative dysphasia was higher with floppy Nissan fundoplication, the difference was not significant is more superior with significant difference in decreasing the incidence of gas bloating.
Although Toupee fundoplication improved the character of to the normal level, floppy Nissan fundoplication in improved the character of LES on manometer study and parameters of 24 hours pH monitoring.
From the fore going results, Toupee fundoplication seems safe and effective in treating the symptoms GERD as Nissan fundoplication including patients sever form of the disease. Toupee fundoplication did not significantly decease the incidence of post –operative dysphasia in compurgation tonuses fundoplication even in patients with impaired body motility. Toupee fundoplication is superior in improving manometer and 24 hours pH monitoring parameters.
