Abstract

In tbis work, a detailed description of dynamic relaxation
technique that can be applied to investigate the nonlinear structuralbehaviour
of pretensioued suspension cable roofs is given. The
classification of cable roofs and factors that affecting the design of
these structures are introduced. A summery of previous theoretical
work can-jed out ill the field of suspension roofs is given. The static
analysis of cable structures by finite deflection theory and energy
method are introduced. A theoretical analysis of static response of
pre-tensioned cable networks is presented using a nonlinear energy
approach by dynamic relaxation technique. The three basic factors
that enter the equations of motion in the dynamic relaxation method
are studied to reach the stability and convergence of the iterative
technique.
A computer program is performed to analyse several types of
cable roofs structures by U1e dynamic relaxation technique taking
into account the non Iinear beha viour of structure.
A detailed results are presented tor a pre-tensioned
hyperbolic network. (2.7m x 2.0m) for different cases of study , the
results show a good agreement between different methods. A
deta i10d results are presented for a pre-tensioned hyperbolic
paraboloid network (73.2m x 73.2m) for different cases of loading
and a comparison are made with alternative numerical results. The
results of this study are discussed.
