Abstract The outpatient services are the backbone of the heal th services system, most people have contact wi th the health care system through the highly diverse and widely distributed system of providers that offer care to the ”walking patient”. The Curative Organization Hospitals are one of the major sources of medical care for the Alexandria Population. The hospi tlas affiliated to the organization provide OPD care under three schemes, regular (morning) outpatient, specialized clinic and Al-Shefaa project. The present study is an attempt to review the pattern of care under these schemes with regard to the organization, staffing, equipment, design and patient satisfaction with the service, with the aim, to develop criteria and standards for the structure and the operation of the OPD in hospitals A validated checklist was used to collect data regarding all aspects of the four OPDs that were affiliated to the four general hospitals of the Curative Organization. The study illustrates the following findings: The overall recomended enterance average characteristics 62.5. and all outpatient was departments require ascending upstairs to reach clinics. - Treatment rooms, operation rooms recovery rooms, medical record uni t and X-ray uni t were not available at all OPDs, |
