Abstract Inflammation is responsible for tissue injuiy in pathological conditions ranging from myocardi a! infarction to rheumatoid arthritis Recent studies suggest that adenosine is a potent regulator of the inflammatory response and, as such, may be useful as a phannacological agent in the therapy of inflammatory diseases The aim of this work was to investigate the effect of 2 -chlot oadenosine (adenosine receptor agonist) on the inflammatory responses in rats.Sixty six albino rats of both sexes weighing about 1 50-200 grams each and 30 mice of both sexes weighing 23-25 grams each, were used in this work. These animals were classified for induction of the different experimental models of inflammation They include acute and chronic experimental models of infiamniati on. The acute models of inflammation including carrageen an rat paw oedema and carrageenan induced inflammation in murine air pouch while the chronic model includes the adjuvant induced arthritis. |
